Owl love you!!

Owl Love You.

So I got this cute little flannel owl panel a little while ago when
I went on a Quilt shop trip with Mom and Sister C...

I was pretty simple to pin
(I hate having my projects overloaded with pins when I'm quilting)

I went around each owl and squiggled the background..

Hubby is really good about holding my finished projects for me.
I tried to 'boy it up' by adding a blue dotty border..

The back of the quilt is always my favorite.
Then you get to see the quilting.
It looks as tho I backed the owl quilt in white but I used really light blue..

Sister C at Quilt Doodle Designs posted the Feb BOM

Quilt Doodles BOM

Sew, I'm doing the block of month with Cindy at Quilt Doodle Designs..

I decided to do Batiks & White.

So I decided to use this yardage of white on white dots..
The batik I choose for this month was kinda pinkish..

Who knows which batik I'll use for each month..

I cut my colors from Cindy's directions..

They were very easy to follow.

I typically use my leg to help line things up..

life in perspective

I read the following on facebook a few days ago.
It totally puts life in perspective..

""A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles roll...
ed into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full.. The students responded with a unanimous ‘yes.’

The professor then produced two Beers from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed..

‘Now,’ said the professor as the laughter subsided, ‘I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things—-your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favorite passions—-and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car.. The sand is everything else—-the small stuff.
‘If you put the sand into the jar first,’ he continued, ‘there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life.

If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you.

Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.

Spend time with your children. Spend time with your parents. Visit with grandparents. Take your spouse out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and mow the lawn.

Take care of the golf balls first—-the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the Beer represented. The professor smiled and said, ‘I’m glad you asked.’ The Beer just shows you that no matter how full your life may seem, there’s always room for a couple of Beers with a friend.""

So don't sweat the small stuff...
It's just sand..

In Your Words Blog Hop

First off I want to Thank
Madame Samm for creating this hop for us
& to Linda for being our amazing talented host!!

I thought a lot about what I wanted to put as my inspiring word..
I can think of quite a few but they all circle back
to one word...

LIFE
I mean where would we be with out it?
I've got a little life within me,
I've a husband & family who love me,
a job I love,
a passion I wish I could make into a job..

It's life that gets away from us..
It's 'life' when you get a phone call from your husband
while your at work telling you his car died
at the side of the road & he needs a ride..
It's life when you realize it's nearly 7 pm at night
& you haven't finished your blog project..

I love life.

Such is life?

Life has gotten away from me when I realized that I haven't shipped out
the giveaway from the last blog hop..

On to this one..
I included the fabric I used in the block above, 2 pieces of coordinating fabrics
& some quilting pins I got at my local quilting stop..

What you need to do:
Tell me about your life..
Has life gotten away from you like it has me?
I'll put your name in an extra time if your a follower :)

Happy New Year!!
Here's to another year gone and another one to start..
Wow..
I'm not going to have a 'New Years Resolution'
Last year I have a resolution to do one quilt a month,
for the WHOLE year..
Oh.. that lasted till around March.. then like all resolutions..
it went out the window.
I've a few packages to send out soon..
Today..
Well, we are dog sitting for a friend of mine.
Her lovely young 5 month old boxer, Echo,  is our house guest..
Rosie isn't none to happy about it..
Gizmo I don't think knows what to do..
and Echo.. is blissfully unaware..
She's just a baby..
I'm hoping I can get some sewing done today too..
I'm admits of cleaning our home..
But, got sucked into blog land..
Baby update:
We are 15 weeks and 1 day today.
Had our 2nd Dr's apt yesterday..
The baby was not cooperating..
he/she had their back turned for the ultrasound..
We find out the gender on the 4th of Feb :)
